How’d we get here?

After submitting a Clean Energy Development Plan (CEDP) to the Regional Clean Energy Project team in British Columbia in 2021 the project moved into the DETAILED DESIGN or DESIGN REVIEW stage with support from stakeholders.

What happens in this stage?

Every element of the Opportunity undergoes review and assessment in this stage, with an exhaustive analysis by relevant and experienced voices from near and far.

Every element is explored and changes are made to the design - improving the Opportunity where appropriate.

What’s happening now?

Currently at about 60% Design Completion

• - Key funding milestones and achievements to confirm opportunity viability

The detailed design - Atlin’s Hydro Opportunity, has helped make the project safer, smarter and more sustainable.

Thankfully the analysis provided considerable community engagement and optimization-centric design evolutions that are strengthening the Opportunity

At a May 2022 Open House in Atlin, THEL released changes to the Hydro Expansion Project that are the result of the work in this stage.

An OPEN HOUSE was held on August 17th in Atlin, BC. to explore the near-final Opportunity and gather final input from the community at this stage.

What’s happening next?

By the end of summer, THEL expects to resubmit its Clean Energy Development Plan (CEDP) to British Columbia. THEL is choosing to submit a new CEDP out of appreciation for just how much optimization Atlin’s Hydro Opportunity represents compared to the Hydro Expansion Project.

THEL is encouraged about the work ahead with TRTFN’s Project Review Group. Exploring the Opportunity in detail will allow the Review Group to complete its assessment and review work on behalf of TRTFN Governance and its citizens.

The Federal, Yukon and BC Governments, in addition to the TRTFN, will make assessments over their regulatory elements beginning in the fall of 2022. Ideally, approvals will allow for construction phase to begin in Spring 2023.
